ACBC 4 (Aloha Corona, Big Crowns 4)
acrylic on canvas
36” x 24”
2022

This is one in a series of 8 “big crowns” pineapple paintings inspired by my 10” x 6” mural completed for the Tiny Room for Elephants Festival at the Cherry Street Pier in the summer of 2022.

Aloha Corona is wordplay for a time in which we found ourselves saying hello and goodbye to a virus named corona while longing for the hospitality and royalty that a pineapple symbolizes.

Instead of leaving the crowns on the background wallpaper of each painting, as I typcially do, I blew them up and brought them to the front where they abstractly symbolize the crowns atop the fruit along with crowns formed on a pineapple’s surface.

Composed of vibrant colors, they look great alone or paired as multiples with other paintings from the “big crowns” series. Signed on verso.

Always free shipping in the U.S.
