City Lights: City paintings by Ed Marion at Borrelli’s Chestnut Hill Gallery
My new show of cityscape paintings, City Lights, opens this Saturday at Borrelli’s Chestnut Hill Gallery on East Gravers Lane and Germantown Avenue. Like many artists before me, I left my hometown of New York City only to be obsessed with it in my art for the next 20 years.
The show is part of Chestnut Hill’s Second Saturday where visitors can indulge in art, music and delicious eats along the beautiful and walkable Germantown Avenue. If you love taxis, fashion, bridges, subways, and water towers, this show is for you.

C + A . May 29, 2022 . Wedding Illustration
At my best, at the core of how I make images, is the concept of witness.
In painting, I find the most satisfaction when I act as a witness to the person or scene I’m trying to depict.
In illustration, and in wedding illustration, I’m an actual witness to the couple who declare their love for each other in front of their community.
This summer, I had the privilege to witness, and then illustrate, the wedding of friends. It was an honor to be with them and their daughters as they enter this new chapter of their lives together. In making these illustrations, I kept thinking of their friendship and of the art (my art!) that would hang in their home and travel with them and their daughters through time.
Cheers to you, Christine & Armando!
Wedding Illustration . Turning Your Wedding Into a Work of Art
It all begins with an idea.
Here’s what I do with my wedding illustration. I turn your wedding into a work of art.
I do that by sketching live at your wedding or event, also taking photos & videos, and then devoting 3 (or more) studio days immediately after the event to turn out a minimum of 10 beautiful polished digital illustrations which can be shared by you in any variety of media you chose and as many times as you like. Think Instagram, wedding books, wedding videos, greeting cards, fine art prints and framed stretched canvases.
Based on the wedding package you choose, I also take those illustrations that you love and turn them into limited edition, artist-signed, fine art prints and framed prints on canvas. You, your family, and guests literally become the subject of several works of art which I replicate for you in print sizes to 36” wide and in framed stretched canvas sizes to 72” wide. These works become collectible family heirlooms for generations to come.
These prints and canvases in the video came into the studio this week from my most recent illustrated wedding. I love what I do as a wedding artist because when I illustrate and sketch at your wedding, I am witness to the love you share and am able to use my drawing & painting skills to turn your wedding into a work of art.
From iPad to finished prints to art on your walls, to be enjoyed by your family for generations to come.
Cheers, and mahalo! 🍍
